Counselling works in many waysCounselling can help you understand your past, live in the present and
enjoy your future.
How does it work? There are many analogies for how counselling works,
it can feel like taking blinkers off and seeing your world differently,
exploring new ways of being. Life is not always easy, things happen
and it can feel that we need someone to be alongside us, supportive
but not directly involved. In this way counselling can be a bit like stabilising
wheels on a bicycle, there to stop us falling, to support us when we wobble
but we still need to make the wheels go round and choose the direction.
Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore your thoughts and feelings;
to understand aspects of yourself that affect the choices you make in life.
It provides a safe space for you to share and work with the difficult feelings
that can sometimes arise.
Counselling can offer support during a time of personal change. It can help
with working towards acceptance of those things that cannot be changed or
that you decide not to change.
As a counsellor I cannot make your problems go away, neither will I offer
advice. I will accompany you on your journey of discovery.
